BEGINNERS - Class Overview:
This beginner pottery wheel class is designed for individuals with little to no experience in ceramics. Participants will learn the foundational techniques of throwing clay on the wheel, along with proper tool usage and essential surface finishing methods.

Class Goals:

  • Understand the basic operation of the pottery wheel.

  • Develop skills in centering clay, opening, pulling, and shaping pots.

  • Practice glazing and finishing techniques.

What to Expect:

  • Hands-On Practice: Each session will focus heavily on hands-on practice. Participants will spend a significant amount of time at the wheel, working on their technique.

  • Small Class Size: To ensure personalized instruction, class sizes will be limited.

  • Instructional Support: Experienced instructors will provide guidance and demonstrations throughout the class.

  • Confidence Building: Each session will help build confidence in your pottery skills through practice and constructive feedback.

Materials Provided:

  • Pottery wheels

  • Clay

  • Basic tools (such as trimming tools, sponges, and ribs)

  • Glazes and firing services for finished pieces

Schedule:
Classes will be held once a week for a duration of 8 weeks. Each class session lasts for 2 hours.

You’ve come to right place! Become a student at Clay Bar Co. and enjoy the creative freedom of open studio time while enrolled in classes! Our creative community is a wonderful way to hone your craft and sharpen your skills.

The price of this 8 week session includes 25 lbs of clay (cinco blanco), use of studio tools and glaze. Open studio time during your 8 week session (see open studio hours below!). Additional clay could be purchased for $45 per 25 lb bag or $3 per pound. All glazing and firing is included.

Weekly on Wednesday starting: MARCH 19TH - MAY 7TH

Day time: 9-11 am & 12:00-2:00PM

Evening: 5:30-7:30pm

Open studio hours:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 2-7pm (first come, first served basis. Please call ahead to check for availability.)

  • NO WALK-INS ALLOWED

  • During open studio hours students are required to remain quiet when a pottery wheel class is in session.

  • Only the student is allowed in the studio. No family members, friends or children.

  • Only 1 student per pottery wheel station. No spread.

  • Designated Seating only.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Due to the limited capacity of these courses there will be No refunds, If student decides that they cannot attend, they must contact our studio admins prior to the session start date. After the start date, there is no guarantee that management will be able to move a student to a different session.
